Mangyan Leadership Training

June 12, 2007

Last June 4, GPCC together with Cavite's Word of God church joined Team Missions Philippines for a 5-day Leadership Training for Mangyans in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro. Pastors, church leaders and elders from different Mangyan tribes gathered to listen and learn more about the basics of leading their families and their congregation through the Word of God. Most of them came from the mountains and had almost two days traveling by foot. The training includes the topic about commitment, teamwork, submission to authorities, family planning, health, livelihood projects and more.

Pastor Nahum Taverner, Bro. Mel "Kuya Gudlo" Alojado, Bro. Erwin Briones and Bro. Jean Rodriguez were there to help in ministering to our brothers and sisters in Mindoro. They were given the chance to share the word of God on morning devotion times and also testify about God's goodness and faithfulness. Having heard that these people used to worship "other gods" like animals and heavenly beings, the GPCC team decided to take videos and interview leaders about their former way of life, how they came to know our Saviour and their new found life in Him.

The four also visited the outreach in Bansud where our Aeta brothers live. A lot changed, or should we say improved in their way of life every since they accepted Christ as their Lord. Isn't it exciting?

On the way home, Kuya Gudlo preached the Word on board. People from different places coming from Mindoro heard the message of salvation and were led to prayer.

Surely God is good to Tagalogs, Aetas and Mangyans!

What are you waiting for? Join our mission trips and outreaches! Bless and be blessed!

In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths."

The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. -Isaiah 2:2-4 NIV
